You are not perfect …and that’s okay!

You are not perfect

I looked at myself in the mirror one morning and told myself these simple words” I am not perfect… and that’s okay. It didn’t end there though, I decided to be a “better me”. I was not out to be better than my friends or anyone around me but simply be the best I could possibly be. That was about 18 years ago, even though I am not perfect, I am a much better person today because of that simple decision.  Here are some of the tips I find very valuable:

1. Love yourself: the first step in the journey to a better you is coming to terms with the fact that you are not perfect and if you think carefully about it no one is. Accept and love “you”.  For me at that point, I was grateful for my strength and looked to God to help me overcome my weaknesses.

2. Take practical steps: consciously exposing yourself to materials (books, CDs, DVDs) specific to the what you are working on is priceless.

3. Stay teachable: there is always something to learn and staying open to learn from others is equally important. I hope you find these tips helpful, look out for more tips on my next post on becoming a better you.

fall foliage

Fall is my favorite time of the year. As the foliage change in color and all the colors come together in harmony…one word comes to mind: Beautiful!

Apart from admiring nature, there are times we meet people and describe them as beautiful.  Have you ever met someone so beautiful and well-dressed that you want to be friends with right away? Only to spend a few minutes in the person’s company and realize they have a very nasty attitude . Would you still feel attracted to that person?

Even though outward appearance may attract people to you, one important quality that keeps them attracted to you is your character. In the next few posts I will be sharing some thoughts of developing an admirable personality. Feel free to leave a comment below or ask any question you may have, I will be more than happy to respond to you.

The best love story ever….

Over twenty years ago, I developed a relationship with someone and this relationship has truly enriched my life and shaped the person I have become. Can you imagine going through a rough patch in life and having so much peace in your heart? Can you imagine been loved in spite of your flaws, been accepted inspite of your failings? Can you imagine someone loving you enough to take the fall for you? Can you imagine the impact this relationship can have on your self-esteem and self-image just to mention a few?

Don’t just imagine it because you can experience it. I got a chance to embrace this unique love several years ago and I can categorically tell you it is life changing. He has been described in many ways but my favorite description of him ever recorded in the Bible is ” He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother” . My goal with this post is to share a life changing experience that I had several years ago. A decision that bought peace, joy, security and confidence to my heart. Several years ago, I handed over the reins of my life to Jesus, looking back today I am truly thankful I did and want to invite you to do the same. It is easy, say a simple prayer asking him to come into your heart and love you like no one else can.

I hope and pray that in months to come you will think back to reading this post with gratitude.
